If you ever used my contact me form, you will see that one of the question that I asked the sender is how they find me. This question might seem strange to some but it is an important piece of information for me as it tells me how and where my services are found on the world wide web. This blog is currently second place on google search for the keyword blog makeover and I think that is awesome as I know it can potentially lead to more jobs and more advertisers :)

However, since not all of my visitors eventually lead to my contact page, I decided to add a free online survey tool that popup at the corner of this blog main page. It is non-intrusive as visitors can easily minimize the box but it would be awesome if people can just do the quick survey to help me with my research.

This web survey feedback form service is provided free by the good people at KISSinsights dot com and once you registered, you can choose from a variety of online questionnaires and surveys that you can place at your site to help you with whatever information you are looking for. For example if you own an online store, you could have a survey that asked your potential customer, why they abandoned their shopping cart, you could ask a subscriber why they are terminating their subscription or my personal favorite, would you come back again, you get the drift right? Anyway this is an awesome service and did I mentioned it was free with options to upgrade for heavy duty users?

Check it out and let me know what you think!

Registering a business can be a very simple process, but the steps can vary depending on the country you are registering the business in. In most countries it’s not a complicated task, but of course the steps must be followed precisely. The first thing to understand about registering a business is that you will need to decide on a business structure.

Which business structure and office type you choose will more than likely be determined by what type of business you have, or will have. There are four distinctive business structures to decide from. They are: Sole trader, Partnership, Trust and Company.

As a sole trader you operate trade, manage and control all aspects of your business. This doesn’t mean that you cannot have employees, though. The main advantage of being a Sole trader is that setting up your business will involve a small amount of legal and tax formalities. And of course since it is only one individual you as the company, the structure is inexpensive to set up.

In a Partnership business structure you are carrying on your business with someone else. This could be one other person or a group of people. Income generated will obviously be received by all parties involved. A great advantage to setting up a Partnership business structure is that you’ll have access to the finances of all the partners. Furthermore there are more people to share the work, losses and legal responsibilities.

A Trust business structure is for those who wish to establish a company as a trustee. Two big advantages is having limited liability as a company, as well as increased asset protection.

The most common business structure is Company. A Company is regulated by the governing bodies of that country, and are typically known as Securities commissions. When it comes to having access to capital for business purposes; a Company has greater access. Also since a Company business structure involves a lot more to be established, it is more expensive to get started.

To choose your office type, this will take some time and research, but more so than not there are several types of leases, offices and even opportunities for shared office space in your city.

You may want to consider getting a grant for assistance to help you start your business. There are typically several funding programs available. And you may be able to receive financial assistance from local councils as well.

It is imperative to get your business taxation identification, as this will ensure you are paying taxes outlined and operating in a legal manner.

I am always on the lookout for good and reliable hosting and if it happens to be more economical than the one I’m using then I’m all ears. As I have a few blogs to my name, I tend to lean towards hosting with unlimited domain, unlimited storage space and I also look for unlimited bandwidth as I don’t like to be locked out of my own blog should my bandwidth exceed for any particular month.

If you are just starting out into the blogging world, you might consider free hosting with blogspot or wordpress dot com. However, if are looking to host your own blog because you like to have more control over it or you like to try self-hosted wordpress with all it’s fantastic plugins, then you might want to consider something from HighHosting The Best Domain & Hosting Provider. The site offers hosting starting from an economical price of USD2 per month or you can go with their special offer of USD20 for one year package.  Although there is a 100mb disk space capacity and a 5000MB capped bandwidth monthly, I feel this is pretty sufficient if you are starting out or experimenting with hosting. You can always upgrade later should the need arise.

Let me know if you need further information. Good luck!

Choosing a domain name is always exciting as for me it means you now really own that blog or website, much like owning a house and putting some home address plaques in front of your house.

Like address signs, a great domain name is equally important. So here are some tips to remember when choosing that all important address sign or domain name for your blog.

1. Always remember to make it short and sweet. You want something that represent you but at the same time something that people can remember easily.   K.I.S.S. Keep it simple and sweet, and you’ll get more traffic coming to your site.

2. Pay attention to punctuation. Sometimes the domain you want might not be available but something with punctuation might work. Although dashes and underscores are generally alright, avoid any strange punctuations like the exclamation sign for instance.

3. Make your domain name memorable so people will type in the address straight into the address bar instead of using a search engine and this is particularly important if yours is a business website. Search engine means your potential customer might find a competitor while looking for your site.

I hope you find the tips useful… and oh ya.. congrats on your new domain name!
